ONGC Super 30 Agartala achieves great success as 26 out of 30 students clear JEE Mains 2025. The free coaching program empowers underprivileged students in Tripura.

In a remarkable academic feat, 26 out of 30 students from the ONGC Super 30 coaching centre in Agartala have successfully cleared the JEE Mains 2025, marking an impressive 86.7% success rate. The announcement was made by Biswajit Dasgupta, Chief Project Manager of Centre for Social Responsibility and Leadership (CSRL), during a press briefing at the Agartala Press Club.
The ONGC Super 30 initiative, a collaborative project between Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and CSRL, was launched in 2021 with the goal of nurturing talent from underprivileged communities in Tripura. It provides free, fully residential coaching for a period of 11 months to selected students, preparing them rigorously for one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance examinations.
“This achievement is a testament to the hard work and determination of the students, as well as the dedicated mentorship provided by our faculty,” said Dasgupta. “With this year’s results, the Agartala centre has now guided over 100 students toward their dreams of pursuing engineering education in India’s premier institutions.”
The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Mains is conducted annually by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and serves as the qualifying test for admission into prestigious engineering colleges including the NITs, IIITs, and serves as a gateway to JEE Advanced, required for admission into the IITs.

Dasgupta elaborated on the selection process for ONGC Super 30, which is highly competitive and ensures that the programme benefits the most deserving candidates. “The programme is open to students whose family income is less than Rs 2.4 lakh per annum. The selection is done through a rigorous two-stage process comprising a written test followed by an academic interview. We make sure that talent does not go unrecognized due to financial barriers,” he said.
The coaching programme covers not only academic content but also focuses on the overall personality development of the students. The residential setup ensures a structured and supportive environment, where students can thrive both academically and emotionally. In addition to expert faculty, students also receive psychological counseling, confidence-building sessions, and career guidance workshops.
ONGC operates similar Super 30 centres in Sivasagar (Assam), Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Jalgaon (Maharashtra), and Golaghat (Assam)—all aimed at empowering students from economically weaker backgrounds in different parts of the country.
The success of the Agartala centre highlights the transformative potential of public-private partnerships in the field of education. Local educators and parents have praised the initiative for bringing world-class opportunities to students who might otherwise never have had the chance to pursue such ambitious academic goals.
One of the successful students, speaking on condition of anonymity, expressed heartfelt gratitude: “I come from a very humble background. Without ONGC Super 30, I wouldn’t have dared to dream of becoming an engineer. This programme has changed my life.”
The results come as a ray of hope for thousands of aspiring students in Tripura and the Northeast, signaling that with the right support, economic hardship need not be a barrier to academic excellence.
