The state government has undertaken significant steps to improve education quality, recruiting 4,656 teachers under the Right to Elementary Education over the past five financial years. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha shared this update in a written response to MLA Shyamal Chakraborty in the state assembly.

According to the Chief Minister, the recruitment was conducted through the Teacher Recruitment Board Tripura (TRBT), with 3,615 graduate teachers and 1,041 non-graduate teachers being appointed. This initiative has contributed to improving the overall quality of education in the state.

Nipun Tripura Mission Enhancing Foundational Learning

Launched on November 18, 2022, the Nipun Tripura Mission focuses on improving foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) for students from pre-primary to grade two. Under this initiative, 10,182 primary teachers have received training in activity-based teaching methods. Additionally, 200 Block and Cluster Resource Persons have been trained as Master Trainers, and 2,648 teachers have undergone specialized training in early childhood care.

To support early learning, pre-primary schools have been equipped with various play materials. The government also conducts regular parent-teacher meetings to foster collaboration between educators and families.

Nutrition and Welfare Programs for Students

Under the PM-POSHAN scheme, students from grades one to eight in government and government-aided schools receive nutritious cooked meals daily. Additionally, 2,998 students in tea garden regions of West Tripura and Unakoti districts are provided with milk. In Dhalai, an aspirational district, a pilot breakfast program benefits 47,792 students from pre-primary to grade eight.

Infrastructure Development and Educational Innovations

The government is also focused on strengthening school infrastructure. A ₹5.36 crore proposal has been submitted to construct new classrooms at Srinagar Gabdi Higher Secondary Vidyajyoti School, awaiting Finance Department approval. Similarly, plans are in place for a new school building at Chailengta Higher Secondary School, pending financial sanction.

Furthermore, the state hosted an interstate exhibition featuring over 160 innovative teaching-learning materials, encouraging teachers to develop low-cost educational aids. Nearly 7,000 teachers participated in the event.

To bridge learning gaps for first-grade students, the government introduced the Vidya Setu Module, a nine-week bridge course aligned with NCERT guidelines. A recent evaluation by NCERT praised the state’s efforts in implementing the Nipun Mission.
