Toursim and transport minister Pranajit Singha Roy said the government authoritries of both Bangladesh and India especially Tripura were considering introduction of Chittagong to Agartala via Comilla bus service. The demand for such a bus service was raised by the people of Bangladesh only.
“We have limited power in this regard and we shall certainly take up the matter to the central government for permission”, said Singha Roy.
“While Feni bridge will open new avenues for transportation of goods and increase the trade between the two countries through Chittagong but for passenger movement, the people from Bangladesh have to enter Agartala from Chittagong via Comilla. According to Singha Roy, Tripura Government would place the matter before the central government and emphasize has been laid so that Bangladesh also make efforts from their end for the same.
“As the connectivity is being improved with Bangladesh in various forms, I believe, the central government will approve the proposal,” the Transport minister told the media.
