At a time when Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is eyeing for 60 out of 60 seats in the 2023 assembly polls, Pradyot Kishore Manikya seems to have softened his stand on ‘Greater Tipraland’ demand, leaving a space for wide speculations in the state’s politics.
Earlier, the Royal Scion and Tipra Motha chief had called for a ‘constitutional solution’ for his demand of Greater Tipraland. And, till then he continued to press for the demand. He had also said that Tipra Motha would not form an alliance with any party if a constitutional solution was not given regarding the demand.
But, a recent statement made by the Tipra Motha chief clearly indicated his soft stand.
“I can’t lie to people. We are committed to our people. We are committed to our cause. If the Government of India thinks Greater Tipraland is not possible, if Prime Minister of India or Home Minister of India says that they will give better idea other than Greater Tipraland, they must give it in writing so that I can show it in public,” he said, according to a report by a local news channel.
Sources pointed out that Pradyot Kishore was always maintaining a ‘good relation’ as far as political matters were concerned with Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb. Recently, he also reportedly held discussion with a senior BJP leader in Delhi relating to his politics and political career.
Another Tipra Motha leader- Animesh Debbarma in a recent public rally said, “Tipra Motha is not against Prime Minister Narendra Modi but they want Greater Tipraland.”
If the two statements of the two leaders are summed up, there would be a clear indication and scope for speculations.
The state would go to assembly polls after around one year for which the people are very likely to witness some major political developments over the next few months.
