If government can resettle the Brus, it can rehabilitate the Bengali victims who became displaced  during1980’s infamous communal riots in Tripura.
“The way government resolved the problem of Bru refugees, it should also intervene in the case where many Bengali families were victimized due to genocides and massacre during the period of 80,” said Amra Bangali leader Gouranga Rudra Pal in his letter to the CM.
He said, “Thousands of Bengali people were displaced during the insurgency period. These displaced people also deserve the government’s rehabilitation package.”
“The then Congress and the CPM had never addressed the problem of resettlement of displaced Bengalis. However, at present, as the BJP government has already started rehabilitation of Reang refugees from Mizoram in Tripura with a financial package, we hope that the incumbent government will make arrangements for the rehabilitation with financial compensation and security for the unfortunate Bengali refugees who were victims of partition and the genocide of June 1980,” Amra Bangali leaders mentioned in a letter written to Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.
