All eligible persons of 18 + years of age in Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) areas were vaccinated with the first dose.  Chief Secretary Kumar Alok posted the update in a tweet on Wednesday and hailed the efforts made by the administration, healthcare staff and the AMC for this achievement.

He wrote, “Kudos to DM West, CMO West, AMC and their teams for ensuring 100 percent #vaccination of all 18+ population in Agartala Municipal Corporation. This will help us fight corona effectively,” the Chief Secretary tweeted.

Meanwhile, in the second wave of the COVID19, many of the people living in Agartala Municipal Corporation areas were affected the most. The AMC continued to register a massive surge in the positive cases during the peak of the second wave.

In view of the Covid infection surge and vulnerability in the AMC areas during the second wave the state government had embarked on an aggressive vaccination drive along with enforcing severe restrictions. As per the official report, a total of 32,33,181 doses were administered in the state till August 11 and of them 24,20,713 people received the first shot and 8,12,468 people among them already got the second dose. 

The report said, total 8,26,420 Covid vaccine doses were available with the state as on August 11.
