The residence of long-time CPI-M supporter Manish Ghosh in the East Shibnagar area became the target of an attack by unidentified miscreants on Tuesday night. The assailants, in a brazen act of violence, hurled stones and shattered the window panes of the residence, causing distress among the occupants.
Responding promptly to the incident, CPI-M Politburo member and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, accompanied by senior leaders Pabitra Kar and Manik Dey, visited Ghosh’s residence on Wednesday. Sarkar unequivocally denounced the violence, attributing it to what he described as the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) inherent weakness.
“The orchestrated attack, allegedly by BJP-affiliated miscreants, aims to instill fear among common people, especially opposition workers and supporters. This indicates the erosion of trust in the ruling party, evident from the 2024 Lok Sabha results,” Sarkar remarked.
Demanding a thorough investigation, CPI-M leaders called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.
