This initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to promoting quality education and aims to meet the growing demand for higher education in the three sub-divisions. The Higher Education department emphasized that these colleges will provide quality education across various disciplines, contributing to the socio-economic development of the regions.

The Chief Minister in his Social Media platform wrote :As part of our commitment to ensure enhanced access to higher education, the State Government has decided to establish three new Government Degree Colleges at Ambassa in Dhalai District, and Kakraban and Karbook in Gomati district from the current academic session i.e. 2025-26.This decision will largely benefit the students of these regions in providing access to higher studies and promoting quality education.

According to the official notification, the specific courses to be offered and their intake capacities will be determined by the Department based on demand and available resources. The admission process will adhere to the rules and regulations of the affiliating university, with seat reservations governed by the latest Reservation Acts and Rules of the State Government.

The academic framework, including examination systems and curricula, will follow the guidelines set forth by the affiliating university and the Education (Higher) Department. To ensure smooth functioning, the Department will appoint principals, teaching, and non-teaching staff as required.

All administrative activities, including record-keeping, certificates, communication, and asset management, will be maintained in the name of the respective colleges. The government’s decision to expand educational infrastructure is expected to bridge educational gaps in these areas, fostering greater access to higher learning and development opportunities for students in Dhalai and Gomati districts.

TET Aspirants Smell Rat in Exams, Give Deputation

Frustration has mounted among the 2024-2025 TET candidates following the recent Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the Teachers’ Recruitment Board of Tripura (TRBT). On Saturday, the candidates submitted a memorandum to TRBT President Pratyush Ranjan Deb, voicing serious concerns about irregularities in the examination process.

The candidates alleged that approximately 40 questions in the TET were from outside the prescribed syllabus, raising doubts about the exam’s fairness. After meeting with TRBT officials, candidates questioned why out-of-syllabus questions appeared despite a clearly defined syllabus. They also pointed out errors in the ‘Tentative Answer Key’, claiming that several answers were incorrect and plagued by linguistic mistakes, causing confusion among test-takers.

A significant technical issue reported was related to the ‘Payment Option’ for challenging incorrect answers, which displayed “null” when candidates tried to submit their objections. One of the candidates stated, “This technical glitch has further heightened concerns about the examination’s transparency.”

Seeking immediate redressal, the candidates demanded a discussion with Subject Experts from TET-I and TET-II (Science & Arts) to gain clarity on the mistakes. They stressed that their dedication, time, and mental stress should be acknowledged and urged the authorities to award due marks for flawed questions.

The memorandum appealed for corrective action, emphasizing the need for justice for students and teachers. The candidates urged the TRBT to address these critical issues promptly, ensuring that the examination process remains fair and upholds academic integrity.

As the controversy unfolds, the affected candidates continue to seek a resolution, calling for accountability from the examination authorities to restore trust in the TET process.
