Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah today said that BJP will resolve the Gorkha issue in the Darjeeling hills without dividing West Bengal. Addressing a poll rally in Gangarampur in the north Bengal district of Dakshin Dinajpur, Mr Shah promised that BJP will end political violence, syndicate raj, and evict infiltrators from West Bengal after it forms the government. He also said that an AIIMS, a 600-bed cancer hospital, an IIT, an IIM, and a sports university would be constructed in north Bengal.
Addressing poll rallies in Raiganj and Malda, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticised the Trinamool Congress government for not fulfilling its promise of providing jobs to the state’s youth. He said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee promised jobs to five lakh people, but 84 lakh youths have applied for unemployment allowance. Mr Gandhi termed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls unconstitutional, alleging that wherever the BJP get a chance, they make insinuations against the Constitution.
Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today came down heavily on Election Commission for the alleged deletion of names under the Special Intensive Revision SIR in the state. She addressed a public rally ahead of the Assembly election in West Bengal at Jagatballavpur in Howrah district in support of party candidates. She alleged that BJP used Election Commission to cut valid voter’s names in West Bengal. She urged the people to vote for Trinamool Congress. Mamata Banerjee today joined public rallies in Paschim Medinipur and Purba Medinipur districts in support of party candidates.
