CPM Politburo member and opposition leader Manik Sarkar on Saturday alleged that ruling BJP government was trying ‘to deprive the voters from their free voting rights’ in the upcoming polls to the municipal councils’. While addressing a poll rally in Agartala in support of the party candidates Sarkar maintained that “due to the failure of the State Election Commissioner, state’s general administration and police, the CPI-M were unable to put up their candidates at seven municipal councils, where the BJP managed to be in power uncontested,” Sarkar alleged adding that since the very beginning the BJP had paralysed the power of the constitution of India and throttled the voice of oppositions in this country.
The former Chief Minister alleged, “the voice of democracy and the oppositions are being throttled by the BJP government here in the state of Tripura. Vote has been turned to farce in the state since beginning under the rule of BJP-IPFT coalition government.”
He alleged that the economic condition of the state had been weakened and the state was reeling under acute crisis of work, where the poorer section of the people are deprived at large,” adding to this Sarkar said, “The people belonging to the minority communities are also facing attack. Attempts are being made for divide and rule policy in the state.”
Sarkar called for a change into the misrule policy of government and said, “Change the concept of ruling the state, where the general public and people of all walks of life except some minor section are deprived at large. Return their democratic rights or else get ready to face your lose.”
Sarkar continued slamming the BJP party and said, “People of this state who voted for BJP in 2018 general assembly elections are now frustrated from the misrule of the BJP government. People are now realising that they had done wrong by voting BJP to power
