
Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Kaushal Kishore, delivered a compelling message on Thursday, emphasizing the vital role of women in constructing a drug-free society and achieving the vision of a ‘Nesha-Mukt Tripura.’ He conveyed this during an interaction with members of Self-Help Groups in Santirbazar.
The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including State Cooperation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, MLA Pramod Reang, Chairperson of Santirbazar Municipal Council Swapna Baidya, and District Magistrate of South Tripura District Saju Wahid, among others.
Kishore highlighted the government’s commitment to women’s empowerment, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for a self-reliant India. He commended the efforts of the Tripura government in empowering women through Self-Help Groups, enabling them to attain self-reliance in various sectors, including toy-making, cottage industries, animal husbandry, duck and cock rearing, beekeeping, pickles, and candle production.
He pointed out that initiatives such as housing, sanitation facilities, and bank accounts were being opened in the names of women, fostering the campaign for a self-reliant India.
However, the Minister stressed the crucial role of women in addressing the pressing issue of drug abuse in the state. He urged them to actively participate in curbing the drug menace, aligning with the vision of a ‘Nesha-Mukt Tripura’ (Drug-Free Tripura).
The call to action for women to contribute towards building a drug-free society and a self-reliant India resonated with the attendees, signifying the government’s commitment to gender empowerment and the eradication of drug-related challenges in Tripura.
Earlier the Union minister also visited the upcoming Light House project in the city.
