The youth wings of CPM, DYFI, and TYF came together on Thursday to launch a QR code donation drive, aiming to escalate their efforts against the government’s perceived neglect of the mounting unemployment crisis and drug-related challenges in Tripura.

During a press conference held in Agartala, DYFI’s National General Secretary, Himagnaraj Bhattacharjee, raised concerns about the increasing unemployment rates in the state, which he claimed mirrored the situation in the rest of the country. He squarely placed the blame on the ruling BJP government for the predicament.

Bhattacharjee declared, “The state is not an exception when it comes to the rising unemployment rate under the BJP government’s rule across the country.” He further revealed that DYFI had made the decision to initiate mass agitation that would involve unemployed youth from the state.

He continued, “Certain financial constraints are obstructing our movement against the Corporate-aided government. Therefore, we are reaching out for donations to enable us to intensify our youth-driven movement.”

In tandem, DYFI’s State President, Palash Bhowmik, criticized the BJP-led coalition government in Tripura for what he perceived as their inaction in the face of the surging unemployment crisis. Bhowmik added, “At a time when the unemployment rate is skyrocketing, the youth of our state are being lured into drug addiction. The entire state is grappling with a drug menace while the government promotes the slogan ‘Nesha-Mukt Tripura’ (Drug-Free Tripura).”

Bhowmik revealed plans for a youth movement scheduled on September 15, 23, and 29 in three distinct locations: Kumarghat, Belonia, and Agartala. The objective of these events is to raise awareness about drug abuse and rescue the state’s youth from the clutches of the drug menace.

The launch of the QR code donation drive and the planned youth movements signify a growing concern among Tripura’s youth bodies regarding the twin challenges of unemployment and drug-related issues. They intend to make their voices heard and advocate for solutions to these pressing problems.
