US President Donald Trump praised the UAE and Qatar for helping secure a new Iran nuclear agreement, calling it a major diplomatic breakthrough. Trump said the deal would prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, restore regional stability, reopen Strait of Hormuz shipping routes, and strengthen Middle East peace and economic cooperation.

US President Donald Trump on Monday praised the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar for their crucial role in helping secure a new agreement with Iran, describing the accord as a major diplomatic achievement that would prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and contribute to restoring stability across the Middle East after weeks of heightened tensions.

Speaking during separate meetings with UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of international gatherings in Evian, Trump repeatedly emphasized the importance of cooperation from both Gulf nations in advancing negotiations that led to the agreement.

The US President characterized the accord as a significant breakthrough in regional diplomacy, highlighting its potential to reduce tensions, improve security, and encourage broader cooperation among countries in the Gulf region.

“We just signed a deal with Iran, and this country was a very powerful ally and good things are happening,” Trump said during his meeting with Sheikh Mohammed, referring to the UAE’s support throughout the negotiation process.

Trump also noted positive developments in regional trade and maritime activity following the agreement. According to him, shipping operations through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz had already begun recovering after disruptions linked to regional conflict.

“The ships are starting to move now. We’re going to have a fully open by Friday,” Trump said. “Oil is starting to go, and the prices are coming down rapidly.”

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important energy transit routes, carrying a significant share of global oil exports. Any disruption to maritime traffic through the waterway has historically triggered concerns about global energy supplies and rising fuel prices.

While discussing the agreement, Trump repeatedly stressed what he described as the central objective of the deal—ensuring that Iran would never obtain a nuclear weapon.

“Most importantly, Iran will not have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, making the statement a recurring theme during both meetings.

The UAE leader welcomed Trump’s commitment to regional security and expressed appreciation for Washington’s support during recent tensions in the Middle East.

“Thank you for your support, your commitment to your friend, to your allies,” Sheikh Mohammed said. “Without your support, your commitment, Mr. President, not only my country, but the Middle East would be a different situation today.”

The Emirati President also pointed to opportunities for expanding cooperation between Abu Dhabi and Washington in the future. He emphasized that both countries could work together to strengthen bilateral relations and deepen strategic partnerships in areas ranging from security to economic development.

“There are a lot of things we can talk about for going forward between our two countries, how we can make our relationship even better,” Sheikh Mohammed added.

Later, during a separate meeting with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Trump once again highlighted the importance of the Iran agreement and praised Doha’s role in facilitating diplomatic efforts.

“We have our deal done with Iran and it should be successful,” Trump said. “We have a deal that’s a fair deal. It’s a good deal.”

Trump thanked Qatar for standing alongside the United States during a challenging period marked by regional uncertainty and escalating tensions.

“Working with Qatar and the people of Qatar was really a pleasure,” Trump said. “You fought, and you helped us and with great bravery.”

The Qatari Emir described the agreement as a significant step toward regional stability and urged all parties to continue building on the momentum generated by the negotiations.

“There’s still a lot of work to be done, but I think with this momentum, if we continue like that, Mr. President, I think we can achieve and do great in the region,” Sheikh Tamim said.

The Qatari leader further stressed that the accord would not only benefit regional countries but would also be important for Iran itself.

“I think it will be very important for the region, very important also for Iran as well,” he added.

Throughout the discussions, Trump repeatedly returned to the issue of Iran’s nuclear ambitions, underscoring that preventing Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons remained his primary concern.

Asked about the specific contents of the agreement, Trump indicated that details would eventually be made public.

“I’ll probably have a press conference and read it to you word by word,” he said.

The US President then summarized what he considered the most important aspect of the accord.

“Here’s what it says: Iran will never have a nuclear weapon.”

During his meeting with the Qatari Emir, Trump echoed the same message.

“The one thing that’s happening that’s of note, frankly, the only thing that really matters to me is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,” he said.

Beyond the nuclear issue, Trump also expressed optimism about the future of regional diplomacy. He suggested that the new agreement could create favorable conditions for expanding the Abraham Accords, the normalization framework established between Israel and several Arab nations.

When asked whether additional countries could join the initiative, Trump responded confidently.

“I think they’re all going to come in,” he said.

Economic cooperation also featured prominently during the meetings. Trump highlighted substantial investments made by the UAE in the United States, describing them as amounting to trillions of dollars.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Tamim emphasized the growing economic relationship between Qatar and the United States, noting that bilateral trade and investment ties continue to expand rapidly.

“Our trade partnership is gonna reach $1.2 trillion,” the Qatari Emir said.

The UAE and Qatar have long played influential diplomatic roles in the Gulf region, maintaining communication channels with various regional actors and often serving as intermediaries during periods of heightened tension. Their involvement in the latest negotiations reflects their broader efforts to support regional stability and conflict resolution.

As reactions continue to emerge from across the international community, the new Iran agreement is being closely watched as a potentially significant development in Middle East diplomacy. Supporters argue that the accord could reduce regional tensions, improve economic confidence, and prevent further escalation, while also establishing a framework for future diplomatic engagement between Iran, Gulf nations, and the United States.

For now, Trump remains confident that the agreement represents a major diplomatic success and a turning point for regional security, insisting that its most important outcome is clear: Iran will not obtain a nuclear weapon.
