TRLM signs MoU with Integra Ventures to conduct a baseline survey on Food, Nutrition, Health and WASH interventions in Tripura, focusing on pregnant women, young children and adolescent girls to strengthen evidence-based rural development.
In a major initiative aimed at improving community health outcomes and strengthening grassroots development, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Integra Ventures Services Pvt. Ltd. to conduct a comprehensive baseline survey on Food, Nutrition, Health, and WASH (FNHW) interventions across immersion sites under the mission’s jurisdiction.
The MoU was formally signed on January 16, 2026, marking a significant milestone in Tripura’s ongoing efforts to integrate livelihood enhancement with health and nutrition awareness. The agreement was signed on behalf of TRLM by its Chief Executive Officer, Tarit Kanti Chakma, IAS, reflecting the mission’s strong institutional commitment to evidence-based rural development.
Officials associated with the initiative stated that the baseline survey will focus particularly on some of the most vulnerable population groups, including pregnant women, children under two years of age, and adolescent girls. These groups face heightened risks related to malnutrition, poor health outcomes, and inadequate access to safe water and sanitation facilities. By collecting detailed and location-specific data, the survey aims to identify gaps, challenges, and opportunities for targeted interventions.
The FNHW initiative is a core component of the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM), which seeks to improve the quality of life in rural areas by linking economic empowerment with essential health and hygiene practices. Through this framework, TRLM has been actively promoting behavioral change related to handwashing, safe sanitation, nutritional security, and access to clean drinking water, primarily through women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs).
According to officials, the findings of the baseline survey will play a crucial role in shaping future strategies and interventions. The data will enable TRLM to design programs that are locally relevant, scientifically grounded, and responsive to the actual needs of communities. By grounding policy decisions in reliable field-level evidence, the mission aims to ensure greater impact and sustainability of its FNHW initiatives.
The collaboration with Integra Ventures Services Pvt. Ltd. is expected to enhance the technical rigor of the survey process, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting. Officials expressed confidence that this partnership will strengthen Tripura’s capacity to monitor progress and measure outcomes related to health, nutrition, and sanitation.
Importantly, the initiative underscores the role of women-led SHGs as agents of change at the grassroots level. By equipping SHG members with knowledge and data-driven insights, TRLM aims to empower them to spread awareness, promote best practices, and encourage community-wide adoption of healthy behaviors.
