Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) wins SKOCH Award 2025 for Project TRIPTI, a pioneering initiative enhancing rural livelihoods, financial inclusion, and social protection across vulnerable communities in Tripura.

The Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM), operating under the Rural Development Department of the Government of Tripura, has been honored with the esteemed SKOCH Award 2025 for its transformative initiative, the Tripura Rural Intervention Project for Transformation and Inclusion (Project TRIPTI). The award ceremony took place during the 105th SKOCH Summit at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, held under the theme “Governing Viksit Bharat.”

Recognized as one of India’s highest independent civilian accolades, the SKOCH Award celebrates exemplary contributions in governance, development, digital inclusion, technology, finance, and social impact. The award highlights projects with measurable results, tangible benefits to beneficiaries, and the promotion of best practices for inclusive growth.

Project TRIPTI, nominated by TRLM for the SKOCH Award 2025, is implemented under the Innovation Fund of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The project currently operates in two districts of Tripura — Dhalai (covering Ambassa and Ganganagar RD blocks) and North Tripura (covering Dasda RD block).

Focusing on approximately 4,000 of the poorest and most vulnerable rural households, Project TRIPTI adopts a multi-sectoral Graduation Approach aimed at sustainable socio-economic upliftment. The initiative centers on enhancing income generation and livelihoods, promoting financial inclusion, ensuring social protection, improving nutrition, and developing essential life skills. Moreover, it actively coordinates with various government departments to maximize impact through convergence.

One of the distinguishing features of Project TRIPTI is its emphasis on reaching remote and marginalized communities that often remain excluded from mainstream development programs. The project employs continuous household-level support, providing dedicated handholding to help beneficiaries access government entitlements, strengthen their livelihoods, and improve overall health and nutrition. This holistic approach enhances the resilience of vulnerable populations, enabling them to sustain improvements independently.

Officials associated with the project highlighted that the success of TRIPTI is a testament to effective governance combined with innovative social development strategies. By addressing multiple dimensions of poverty and exclusion simultaneously, the initiative ensures comprehensive and lasting change for the rural poor in Tripura.
