Tripura launches Phase II compliance reforms with digital portals, boosting ease of doing business, transparency, and governance efficiency. State Single Window 2.0 and sectoral platforms aim to streamline approvals and accelerate investment-friendly growth.
The government of Tripura has officially launched Phase II of its ambitious compliance reduction and deregulation initiative, marking a significant step toward improving ease of doing business and strengthening digital governance across the state. The announcement was made during a high-level workshop held at Pragya Bhavan on Wednesday.
The one-day workshop, titled “Implementation of Compliance Reduction and Deregulation,” was organized by the state’s Industries and Commerce Department and attended by senior bureaucrats, including secretaries, departmental heads, and district-level officials. The event focused on reviewing progress made under Phase I and outlining the roadmap for Phase II reforms.
Inaugurating the workshop, Chief Secretary J K Sinha unveiled a series of digital initiatives designed to simplify administrative procedures and enhance service delivery. Among the key launches was the State Single Window 2.0 portal, aimed at providing a unified interface for business-related approvals. Additionally, new digital platforms were introduced for healthcare and tourism services, including PCPNDT registration systems and online registration for homestays and hotels.
Highlighting the state’s progress, Sinha stated that Phase I, which covered 28 sectors, had been successfully completed and received national recognition for its swift implementation. He noted that Phase II has been underway since mid-January following a review meeting chaired by the Cabinet Secretary at the national level.
“Tripura has rapidly transitioned to a paperless administrative system from the gram panchayat level to the cabinet within just eight months,” Sinha said. He emphasized that the reforms have significantly reduced bureaucratic delays and improved transparency in governance.
The Chief Secretary also pointed to several achievements that have brought national recognition to the state. These include innovations in drinking water supply and rural electrification, as well as top rankings for districts and local bodies. Sepahijala district, he noted, was adjudged the best in the country in a national evaluation, while panchayats in Unakoti and West Tripura districts excelled in health and women-centric initiatives.
Industries and Commerce Secretary Kiran Gitte highlighted that Tripura ranked first in the country in simplifying procedures related to land, housing, and industrial licenses during Phase I, according to data from the Cabinet Secretariat.
“Phase II focuses on eliminating redundant approvals and ensuring that the majority of government services are delivered online,” Gitte said. He added that the newly launched portals will further streamline processes in key sectors such as health, tourism, and industry.
The reform process is being supported by premier institutions such as Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and National Law Universities, ensuring that policy frameworks are robust and aligned with best practices.
Officials from various departments also presented sector-specific updates during the workshop, stressing the importance of effective grassroots implementation. They underlined that the success of these reforms depends on translating policy changes into tangible benefits for citizens and businesses alike.
