Tripura Minister Ratan Lal Nath backs Governor’s development roadmap, urges unity for Viksit Tripura, highlights inclusive governance, national growth under PM Modi, and attacks CPI(M) amid Assembly session debate on people-centric policies and economic progress.
In a strong endorsement of the state government’s development agenda, Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday called for collective efforts to build a “Viksit Tripura,” aligning himself with the vision outlined in the Governor’s address during the ongoing session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.
Participating in the discussion on the Governor’s address, Nath described the speech delivered by Indrasena Reddy as more than a constitutional formality. He termed it a comprehensive blueprint that reflects the government’s commitment to democratic governance, inclusive development, and welfare-driven policies.
“The Governor’s speech is not just a formal address but a roadmap of development, progress, and welfare-oriented initiatives. It clearly highlights the work being carried out under the leadership of Chief Minister Manik Saha,” Nath said during his address.
Inclusive Governance and Cultural Sensitivity Highlighted
Nath also lauded the Governor for delivering the speech in both Bengali and Kokborok, describing the move as a significant step toward inclusivity and respect for Tripura’s cultural diversity. According to him, the address reflected the aspirations of all sections of society, including Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs), journalists, artists, and other marginalized communities.
He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that development reaches every corner of the state, particularly focusing on the last mile delivery of welfare schemes. “The speech encapsulates the spirit of inclusive growth and ensures that no section of society is left behind,” Nath added.
National Growth Narrative and Economic Momentum
Placing Tripura’s development within the broader national framework, Nath credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for steering India toward rapid economic progress. He highlighted that the country has emerged as the fourth-largest economy globally and is poised to become the third-largest in the near future.
According to Nath, flagship initiatives such as infrastructure expansion, agricultural reforms, and renewable energy missions—including the National Solar Mission—have played a crucial role in strengthening India’s economic foundation. He noted that these national achievements are creating a conducive environment for states like Tripura to accelerate their own development trajectories.
Focus on Welfare and Last-Mile Delivery
Reiterating the state government’s priorities, Nath stressed that the administration is working relentlessly to ensure that welfare benefits reach every eligible citizen. He underscored the importance of transparency, accountability, and efficient governance in achieving the vision of a developed Tripura.
“The goal is to ensure that every scheme translates into tangible benefits for the people. Development must be visible, measurable, and inclusive,” he said.
Sharp Political Attack on CPI(M)
In a politically charged remark, Nath launched a scathing attack on the Communist Party of India (Marxist), alleging that the party has lost its relevance and public support in the state. He compared CPI(M) to a “Rs 10 coin rejected by the people,” questioning its ideological consistency and current political standing.
The remarks signal an intensifying political narrative within the Assembly, as the ruling dispensation continues to counter opposition criticism while projecting its governance achievements.
Call for Unity to Achieve ‘Viksit Tripura’
Concluding his speech, Nath urged all stakeholders, including citizens, policymakers, and political leaders, to work together in transforming Tripura into a developed and progressive state. He reiterated that unity and collective effort are essential to realizing the vision of “Viksit Tripura.”
