Tripura CM Manik Saha criticizes Tipra Motha for misleading voters with Greater Tipraland and Thansa slogans, promises real development in ADC under BJP, and welcomes 700 new members ahead of crucial TTAADC elections.
In a sharp political attack ahead of the upcoming Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday accused the Tipra Motha Party of misleading the public through slogans such as “Thansa,” “Greater Tipraland,” and “Puila Jati.”
Addressing a large gathering at Kunjaram Para in Paharpur under the Natunbazar-Malbasa constituency, Saha alleged that the regional party is attempting to gain political mileage by exploiting communal sentiments and creating confusion among voters, particularly among indigenous communities.
“They only mislead the people by telling lies. This time, if the Bharatiya Janata Party forms the government in the ADC, there will be real development for the janajatis,” Saha said, emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to inclusive growth and governance.
The Chief Minister’s remarks come at a time when political campaigning in Tripura has intensified, with regional and national parties vying for influence in the tribal council. During the event, Saha also welcomed a significant number of new supporters into the BJP fold. Around 700 voters from 203 families reportedly joined the party, signaling a potential shift in grassroots political dynamics.
In his speech, Saha accused Tipra Motha of inconsistency and lack of clarity in its political agenda. “We tried to move forward with this regional party and held multiple discussions. But they kept changing their stance. They say one thing today and another tomorrow,” he remarked.
He further alleged that Tipra Motha seeks to exert unilateral control over the ADC, similar to previous regimes. “They want to dominate the ADC just like the communists did in the past. But we have now decided to contest independently and move forward with our own vision,” he stated.

Highlighting BJP’s electoral ambitions, Saha expressed confidence that his party would secure a decisive mandate in the ADC elections. “If we form the government with 28 seats, you will witness real development in tribal areas. The BJP stands for transparency, accountability, and progress,” he said.
A major portion of the Chief Minister’s address focused on dismantling what he described as “myths” surrounding the concept of Greater Tipraland and the slogan “Thansa.” According to Saha, these narratives lack concrete definition and are being used merely as tools to confuse the electorate.
“They are dragging minorities and Bengalis into the issue. Even their own leadership cannot clearly define what Greater Tipraland is or where its boundaries lie. These are baseless slogans meant to mislead people,” he asserted.
Saha contrasted this with the BJP’s development philosophy, rooted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas, Sabka Vishwas.” He reiterated that the state government aims to build a “new Tripura” that includes people from all communities and ensures peace and stability.
“People want peace, not unrest. Our goal is to create an environment where development reaches every section of society,” he said.
Taking a broader political swipe, Saha also criticized the functioning of regional parties in other states. Drawing a comparison with the All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, he alleged that similar tactics of suppressing democracy are being attempted in Tripura.
“In West Bengal, democracy is often undermined. Here too, similar attempts are being made to intimidate and control people. But such politics will not succeed anymore,” he claimed.
The Chief Minister also raised concerns over alleged financial mismanagement in the ADC, stating that funds allocated for development lack proper utilization records. “There is no utilization certificate for the funds provided. This clearly indicates misuse and corruption. People are being cheated in the name of Thansa,” he alleged.
He reminded the audience that the era of monarchy is over and that democratic accountability must prevail. “This is the age of democracy, not monarchy. Leaders must be accountable to the people,” he emphasized.

In his concluding remarks, Saha made a direct appeal to the youth associated with Tipra Motha to join the BJP and contribute to what he described as a more stable and development-oriented political framework.
“Acting and slogans will not work anymore. I urge the youth to come forward and join hands with the BJP for a better future,” he said.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLA Ranjit Das, Notunbazar-Malbasa constituency candidate Rabindra Reang, Ampinagar ADC candidate Saudagar Kaloi, and minority leader Jasim Uddin.
