Tripura Police intensifies security ahead of TTAADC elections with robust deployment, law and order monitoring, and voter safety measures in Khowai and Dhalai districts to ensure peaceful polling, fair campaigning, and smooth electoral process on April 12.

Ahead of the crucial elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), scheduled for April 12, the state police have significantly strengthened security arrangements across sensitive districts to ensure a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

Director General of Police Anurag on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the law and order situation in the districts of Khowai and Dhalai. The high-level meeting took place at the office of the Superintendent of Police in Khowai and was attended by senior officials, including district Superintendents of Police and commandants of the Tripura State Rifles battalions.

During the meeting, officials assessed the current security environment and finalized a detailed deployment strategy for the remaining days leading up to the polls. The focus remains on maintaining strict law and order across all polling regions, particularly in areas identified as sensitive or vulnerable.

“The elections are scheduled on April 12, and elaborate security arrangements have already been put in place to ensure smooth conduct,” said DGP Anurag. He emphasized that continuous monitoring and ground-level assessments are being carried out to identify potential risks and respond proactively.

The police chief further stated that security planning encompasses all phases of the electoral process — pre-poll, polling day, and post-poll periods. “We are reviewing the entire security framework to ensure that necessary actions are taken at every stage so that the election process remains peaceful,” he added.

According to officials, sufficient deployment of police personnel and armed forces has already been completed in both districts. Regular surveillance and patrolling are being intensified, while coordination between different security agencies has been strengthened to avoid any lapses.

DGP Anurag also personally visited key locations to evaluate the preparedness of the ground machinery. “I am here to assess the functioning of the security system. If any further reinforcement or action is required, it will be implemented immediately,” he said.

Ensuring a level playing field for all political stakeholders remains a top priority. The police administration is actively working to create a conducive environment that allows candidates from all parties to campaign freely without obstruction. “The pre-poll atmosphere must remain fair and supportive for all political parties. Candidates should be able to reach out to voters without any hindrance,” the DGP noted.

Special emphasis is also being placed on voter confidence and safety. Authorities have reiterated that voters will be able to exercise their democratic rights without fear, coercion, or intimidation. Measures such as increased visibility of security forces, quick response teams, and strict vigilance are being implemented.
