Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, during the 69th Mukhyamantri Samipesu programme, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to affordable, quality healthcare, prompt grievance redressal, and citizen welfare by ensuring faster administrative action and strengthening medical services across the state.

Reaffirming the state government’s unwavering commitment to public welfare, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said that strengthening healthcare services within Tripura remains one of the government’s highest priorities so that people can access affordable and quality treatment without being forced to travel outside the state.

The Chief Minister made the remarks while interacting directly with citizens during the 69th edition of the Mukhyamantri Samipesu programme held at his official residence. The public outreach initiative, which has become a significant platform for grievance redressal, witnessed participation from people representing different parts of the state despite adverse weather conditions and recent natural disasters.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Saha said the primary objective of the programme is to ensure that public grievances are resolved swiftly and effectively through direct interaction between the government and citizens. He stated that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to transparent, accountable, and people-centric governance.

“The welfare of the people is our government’s highest priority. Through Mukhyamantri Samipesu, we directly listen to citizens, understand their concerns, and ensure that the concerned departments take prompt action for early resolution,” the Chief Minister said.

Healthcare-related issues dominated the grievances presented during the programme. Dr. Saha reiterated that the government has been consistently upgrading Tripura’s medical infrastructure to improve healthcare delivery across the state.

He said the state’s healthcare system has witnessed remarkable progress over the past few years. Diseases for which patients earlier had to seek treatment outside Tripura are now being treated successfully in Agartala through improved facilities and specialist services. For cases requiring advanced medical intervention beyond the state’s capabilities, the government is facilitating treatment at premier institutions, including AIIMS, New Delhi.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the growing importance of telemedicine services at GB Hospital, saying the initiative has significantly improved healthcare accessibility by enabling patients to receive expert medical consultations without unnecessary delays.

During the interaction, Dr. Saha personally heard the grievances of each applicant and instructed senior officials from the concerned departments to take immediate action.

Among those seeking medical assistance were Rupali Namasudra from Ambassa in Dhalai district for her child’s treatment, the family of Bikash Debbarma from Dhanbilash village in Kailashahar, Abdul Hossain from North Tripura seeking treatment for his wife, Prabir Barman from Khowai for his son’s complex eye disease, and Gayatri Bhattacharya from Unakoti for treatment related to a digestive disorder.

Recognising the seriousness of two medical cases, the Chief Minister directed officials to make immediate arrangements for treatment at AIIMS, New Delhi.

Several residents from Agartala, including Situ Saha, Saju Rishidas, Babita Saha, Sangeeta Dhar, Rebika Debbarma, Arpita Chakraborty, and Noten Das, also approached the Chief Minister seeking assistance for the treatment of family members suffering from cancer and other complex illnesses. Dr. Saha assured every applicant that the government would extend all possible support.

Apart from healthcare-related concerns, Jhumur Shil Bhowmik of Narsingarh raised pension-related issues, while members of the Maharajganj Bazar Fish Traders Association highlighted problems affecting their livelihoods. The Chief Minister assured them that their concerns would be addressed through the appropriate administrative channels.

As part of the programme, Dr. Saha also handed over a financial assistance cheque of Rs 3.90 lakh to the family of a person who lost their life during a recent natural disaster in the 79 Tila area of Agartala.
