Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha launches 18 development projects worth Rs 50 crore in Sepahijala and West Tripura, focusing on health, education, infrastructure, and minority welfare to boost regional growth and improve public services under PM Modi’s vision.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated 18 critical development projects worth Rs 50 crore in the districts of Sepahijala and West Tripura today. The inauguration ceremony, held virtually from the newly constructed SDM office in Sonamura, marks a significant milestone in the region’s ongoing efforts towards infrastructure growth and socio-economic progress.
Addressing officials and residents during the event, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of building a future for the next generations, stressing that they should live with dignity and self-respect. He critically reflected on the previous 35 years of Communist Party of India (Marxist) rule, which he claimed had left the state and particularly the Sepahijala district underdeveloped.

“The past 35 years of CPIM governance destroyed not just Sepahijala but the entire state of Tripura,” Dr. Saha said. “The leadership from Sonamura subdivision, which produced the then Chief Minister, did not prioritize development. However, under the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are now committed to accelerating the growth and development of Sepahijala and the whole state.”
The 18 projects launched today span key sectors: 7 are dedicated to healthcare, 5 to education, 5 for the revenue department, and 1 focused on minority affairs. These initiatives collectively represent a significant investment aimed at strengthening the region’s infrastructure and public services.
Dr. Saha highlighted the government’s ambitious plans for the upcoming fiscal year 2025–26, with Rs 7,000 crore earmarked specifically for infrastructure development. “Without infrastructure investment, development is impossible. Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas — inclusive growth — will remain a mere slogan if we fail in this area,” he asserted. He also criticized the previous government’s record for misinformation and lack of tangible progress, contrasting it with the current government’s transparency and development-oriented governance.
The Chief Minister also took pride in Tripura’s improved economic indicators. “Tripura is now the second highest in the North East in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income,” he said. “Our law and order situation has improved significantly, creating a safer environment for development.”
Dr. Saha reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive growth through various citizen-centric initiatives like Amar Sarkar, CM Helpline, and Mukhyamantri Samipeshu, designed to resolve public grievances promptly. He also highlighted the government’s success in employment generation, revealing that 20,184 government jobs have been filled transparently since 2018.

“Our approach is to solve problems rather than create them,” he noted. “Many universities have expressed interest in establishing campuses in Tripura, signaling confidence in our developmental path.”
Several dignitaries were present during the virtual inauguration ceremony, including Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, Cooperative Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, MLAs Taffajal Hossain, Bindu Debnath, Antara Sarkar Deb, Sepahijala Zila Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Datta, District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, and Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma.
In his address, Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman praised the government’s focus on education and infrastructure in Sonamura subdivision. He described the inauguration of the new SDM office and other projects as a turning point for the region. “These projects are not just buildings; they represent new hope, new opportunities, and the foundation for a better future for the people of Sonamura,” he said.
