In Hockey, India defeated Uruguay 3-1 in a shootout after an intense 1-1 draw in their qualification match for 9th to 12th positions at the FIH Hockey Junior Women’s World Cup 2025 in Santiago, last night.
Manisha scored the lone goal for India while Justina Arregui scored the equaliser for Uruguay at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Césped, Estadio Nacional in Santiago.
India emerged victorious in the shootout 3-1 as Purnima Yadav, Ishika and Kanika Siwach scored from their takes and goalkeeper Nidhi denied Uruguay thrice to ensure her team progressed ahead in the tournament. India will next play Spain tomorrow for 9th place.
