Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha urges Janajati people to stay alert against divisive forces. The state allocates ₹7,149 crore for TTAADC development in 2025–26, highlighting BJP’s continued focus on tribal welfare and inclusive growth under PM Modi’s vision.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has urged the Janajati (tribal) community to remain vigilant against efforts by certain groups to create division among them, while assuring that the state government is committed to their holistic development.
Speaking at a mass joining programme at Simna Mandal in West Tripura on Tuesday, where 1,406 voters from 375 families joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Chief Minister emphasized that his government continues to work relentlessly for the progress and empowerment of the tribal population.
“In 2024–25, about ₹6,500 crore was spent on the development of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) regions, which accounted for 39.06% of the total expenditure. For 2025–26, the allocation has been increased to ₹7,149 crore,” Dr. Saha stated.
He added that the government is taking every step to ensure that welfare schemes reach every tribal household, but cautioned that a section of people is still attempting to mislead the Janajati community with baseless propaganda. “We have to stay alert of those who try to create division and must strengthen the vision of building ‘Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura,’” he urged.
Focus on Inclusive Development
Dr. Saha highlighted that the BJP government has consistently prioritized the upliftment of Janajati communities since assuming office in 2018. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a series of welfare initiatives have been rolled out to improve education, healthcare, and livelihood opportunities in tribal areas.

He informed that the government had earlier introduced an honorary allowance of ₹2,000 for tribal leaders, which has now been increased to ₹5,000 following a Cabinet decision. “This increase reflects our respect and recognition for the contributions of Janajati leaders to Tripura’s progress,” Saha said.
He further pointed out that several blocks in tribal-dominated areas have been declared aspirational blocks to boost focused development. “These blocks will receive enhanced funding and monitoring to ensure time-bound execution of projects related to education, health, and infrastructure,” he added.
‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas’
Without naming any opposition group, Dr. Saha criticized those spreading misinformation to divide communities along ethnic or political lines. He stressed that the BJP government believes in unity and collective growth through the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.’
“Our aim is to develop every section of society without discrimination. Those who try to divide the people of Tripura are only harming the state’s unity,” he said.
Dr. Saha lauded the central leadership’s continued emphasis on tribal welfare, citing examples such as the elevation of Draupadi Murmu, India’s first tribal woman President, and the appointment of Jishnu Dev Varma, a prominent Tripura tribal leader, as the Governor of Telangana.
“These examples show that the BJP truly values and empowers the Janajati community,” he said, calling on the people to stand united in the journey toward a prosperous Tripura.
Rising Tribal Support for BJP
The joining programme in Simna, coming months before the crucial TTAADC elections scheduled for early next year, is being seen as a major boost for the BJP’s tribal outreach efforts. Local party leaders said the participation of over 1,400 voters from Janajati families reflects growing confidence in the ruling party’s policies.
“The continuous development initiatives and transparent governance have strengthened the BJP’s support base among the tribal communities,” said a senior BJP leader from the area.
The event was attended by BJP state president and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, former MP Rebati Tripura, and BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, among others.
