In a bid to ensure seamless traffic flow and prevent congestion during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the city traffic police have introduced specific vehicular restrictions and designated no-parking zones in key areas of the state capital. The restrictions will be in effect from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm on August 15, coinciding with the flag-hoisting ceremony and other significant events.

According to a notification released by the District Magistrate of West Tripura District, a range of vehicles, including private and commercial vehicles, two-wheelers, e-rickshaws, rickshaws, and pushcarts, will be prohibited from operating in certain areas during the stipulated time frame. The affected zones include the stretch from Gorkhabasti to the south, Buddha Mandir to the north, and Malanch Nivas to the circuit house roads.

It’s important to note that this restriction will not apply to vehicles used by school children.

To facilitate emergency access to the GB Hospital, patients have been advised to utilize the Abhoynagar Bazaar-Kumaritialla road during the specified period.

In addition, the notification designates specific areas as no-parking zones during the outlined time period. These areas include both sides of the road from the main gate of the Old Raj Bhavan to Buddha Mandir, both sides of the Old MLA Hostel-Cantonment Road from Buddha Mandir, and the vicinity from Buddha Mandir to Abhoynagar Post Office.

Air travelers have also been informed of an alternate route to the airport. The traffic department recommends using the Durga Chowmani road, accessible via Panchabati Kalimandir, for those heading to the airport.

To ensure a smooth traffic flow and adherence to the new regulations, the city traffic police urge drivers to use reserved parking areas and follow traffic rules diligently. These temporary measures aim to contribute to the overall success of the Independence Day celebrations while minimizing disruptions and ensuring public safety.
