As the sun began its slow descent behind the horizon, casting a golden glow over the small village of Sherwali, Molina's mother trudged wearily homeward from the brickyard, her gnarled hands clutching a meager bundle of earnings. At 95, she had seen more seasons pass than she cared to count, yet her spirit remained unbroken, her resolve unyielding against the weight of age and adversity.
With each step, memories of her youth flooded back, of a time when her hands were strong and supple, capable of shaping dreams from the clay of life. But now, those hands, weathered and worn, bore witness to a lifetime of toil and hardship, their labor etched into every crease and callus.

The bamboo poles, hollow and brittle, offered little protection against the elements, while the tin roof, patched and rusted, leaked profusely during the monsoon rains.
Inside, the air was thick with the scent of damp earth and decay, as rainwater seeped through the cracks in the walls, pooling on the uneven floor. Birds flitted in and out through gaps in the roof, their chirping a melancholy soundtrack to her solitude.
Yet, amidst the despair, a glimmer of hope flickered in the darkness. In place of the crumbling shack stood a sturdy dwelling, its walls fortified against the wind and rain, its roof a beacon of hope against the stormy skies. Inside, the air was fresh and clean, the sound of laughter and joy echoing off the newly painted walls.
For Molina's mother, it was a dream come true, a testament to the power of kindness and generosity to change lives. No longer would she have to worry about the roof over her head or the food on her table. With Dr. Roy's help, she could finally rest easy, knowing that she and her family were safe and cared for.
