Newly elected MDCs of TTAADC will take oath on April 27 after Tipra Motha’s sweeping victory. Leadership changes expected as CK Jamatia likely to become new CEM, replacing PC Jamatia in Tripura autonomous council.
Fresh political developments are unfolding in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) as the newly elected Members of District Council (MDCs) prepare to formally assume office later this month. The oath-taking ceremony has been scheduled for April 27, marking a significant step in the formation of the new council following the recently concluded elections.
As per directives issued by the Governor, the Law Secretary will administer the oath of office and secrecy to the elected representatives. This ceremony will officially empower the MDCs to begin their legislative and administrative responsibilities within the autonomous council framework.
The elections, which concluded on April 17, delivered a decisive mandate in favor of Tipra Motha Party. The party secured a sweeping victory by winning 24 out of the 28 seats, consolidating its position as the dominant political force in the council. The results have set the stage for a new phase of governance and policy direction in the tribal areas of the state.
Sources indicate that the first customary meeting of the newly elected MDCs will be held on the same day as the oath-taking ceremony. This meeting is expected to lay the groundwork for the formation of the executive structure of the council. Within a week of assuming office, the ruling party is likely to appoint the Chief Executive Member (CEM) along with other Executive Members (EMs), who collectively function in a role comparable to a council of ministers at the state level.
Speculation is already building around leadership changes within the council. According to insiders within the ruling party, retired IAS officer CK Jamatia, who recently entered electoral politics, is a strong contender for the post of CEM. If appointed, he is expected to replace the current CEM, PC Jamatia.

The upcoming oath ceremony and subsequent appointments will be closely watched, as they are expected to shape the governance trajectory of the autonomous district council in the coming months.
