Tripura hosts startup and IPR workshop at T-NEST hub, highlighting innovation, investment, and policy support under Startup Policy 2025. Officials stress collaboration, funding access, and intellectual property protection to accelerate entrepreneurship and economic growth.
The Tripura government on Monday organised a high-level workshop on startup growth and intellectual property rights at the newly inaugurated T-NEST incubation hub, aiming to streamline the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem under the Tripura Start-Up Policy, 2025.
Inaugurating the session titled “Building Startups in Tripura: Success, Protection & Growth Capital,” Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha said the state is positioning itself as an emerging destination for investments through institutional mechanisms like the State Innovation Mission. He urged students and entrepreneurs to collaborate with the government to develop practical solutions for regional development.
Secretary of Information Technology Kiran Gitte noted that initiatives such as the New Generation Innovation Network (NGIN) have been instrumental in encouraging youth-led entrepreneurship within academic institutions.
Director of IT Jeya Ragul Geshan B outlined the objectives of the 2025 policy, which replaced the previous 2019 IT/ITeS scheme to provide sector-agnostic support. Official data indicates that 118 startups have been approved under the new framework.
The workshop featured technical sessions on various stages of business development.
On entrepreneurship, Prasanta Sarkar, CEO of Newtrace, detailed his journey in developing green hydrogen solutions and discussed scaling strategies for early-stage ventures.
Speaking on the topic of intellectual property, Harjeet Nath, Co-Founder of HN Technovations, briefed participants on patents, trademarks, and legal mechanisms for safeguarding innovations.
Manash Buragohain from SVCL explained the eligibility criteria and application procedures for the Tripura Startup Venture Capital Fund (TSVCF).

The event included the felicitation of student innovators supported under the NGIN scheme and startups registered under the state policy.
Established as the state’s premier incubation centre, T-NEST was inaugurated on February 26, 2026, to serve as a flagship platform for startup convergence. The Directorate of IT has recently facilitated international exposure for local units, including an artificial intelligence showcase at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi.
