The situation in Kaiturbari, located under the jurisdiction of the Ranirbazar police station, has become increasingly tense following an incident involving the defacement of an idol of Goddess Kali. The area, which falls under the Mandwi assembly constituency, witnessed a significant escalation in communal tension after the incident, leading to clashes between two groups.
As the tension grew, the conflict intensified, resulting in some houses being set ablaze and several vehicles being burned. The situation quickly became highly explosive, prompting immediate concern from local authorities and political figures. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, whose constituency neighbors Mandwi, rushed to the scene in an effort to bring the situation under control. His presence was intended to help ease the tensions and prevent further violence.
In response to the deteriorating situation, security personnel were deployed in substantial numbers to prevent any further incidents. Despite these efforts, reports indicate that the atmosphere in the area remains extremely tense and volatile. The presence of security forces has not yet been able to fully restore calm, and there is ongoing concern about the potential for further unrest.
