TBSE Madhyamik Pass rate increased by over 11 percent

Overall pass rate in Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) conducted Madhyamik examinations increased in 2021 by more than 11 percent to 76.88 percent compared to 65.14 percent in last year.

Average pass rate for regular students increased to 80.62 percent in comparison with last year’s 69.49 percent. Female students belonging to ST/SC communities outperformed the respective male students in this year. 

Announcing the results of TBSE conducted Madhyamik and Madrasa Alim examinations, TBSE president Bhabatosh Saha said in Agartala on Saturday. 

Saha said, “The Madhyamik Examinations were slated to commence from May 19 last. However, due to Covid pandemic situation, TBSE called off the examinations. An Expert Committee was formed to formulate evaluation process. Based on the recommendations of the Committee, TBSE is announcing the results of Madhyamik exams”.

 A total of 46,603 students from 1066 schools across the State and 94 students from 7 Madrasa appeared for Madhyamik and Madrasa Alim examinations in 2021. Among the candidates, 12 were Specially abled students – 4 male and 8 female.

Pass rates among the ST students increased from 54.94 percent in 2020 to 75.62 percent in 2021 while that of SC students improved to 80.81 percent in 2021 compared to 73.35 percent.

Dr Saha told the media, Female students of SC/ST communities performed better than the respective male students. Number of successful ST female candidates in 2021 stands at 76.09 while that of male ST students is 75.05 percent. In case of SC students, pass rate among the female SC students is 83.04 percent, in contrast, for male SC students pass rate is 80.81 percent.

 “For regular students, average pass rate is 80.62. Besides, 48.79 percent External candidates passed in this year while pass rate was only 2.77 in 2020. Percentage of successful ‘Continuing’ students increased from 29 percent in 2020 to 60.77 percent in 2021,” Dr Saha said.

He added, “All the candidates appeared in Compartmental and External Compartmental category have passed the examination this year. Overall pass rate increased to 76.88 per cent compared to 65.14 percent and registered an improvement by more than 11 percent over the year”.

Dr Saha also said, Pass rate in Schools located in TTAADC areas is 76.64 percent which was 58.53 percent in previous year. At the district level, South Tripura district registered the highest pass rate (88.84 percent). In 2020, Gomati district recorded the highest percentage with 77.46 percent. 

 “Students, who will not be happy with their results, may appear (No fee will be needed) in examinations after the Covid situation becomes normal”, Dr Saha said, and added, in such cases, results of ‘appeared exams’ will be final.
