Benchmark domestic equity indices fell amid investors’ caution regarding President Trump’s renewed tariff threat over India’s imports of Russian oil. All eyes are also on the outcome of RBI’s monetary policy. Sensex shed 308 points, or 0.38 per cent to close at 80 thousand 710. Nifty fell 73 points, or 0.3 per cent to settle at 24 thousand 649.
The broader market also fell today. BSE Mid-Cap index lost 0.14 per cent, and the Small-Cap index slipped 0.27 per cent.
In the Sensex pack, 16 out of 30 companies edged higher. Among the top gainers, Titan gained 2.16 per cent, Maruti climbed one and half per cent, and Trent advanced 1.22 per cent. Among the top laggards, Adani Ports lost 2.02 per cent, Reliance dropped 1.52 per cent, and Infosys dipped 1.37 per cent.
In Sectoral indices at the BSE, 13 out of 21 sectors ended in negative territory. In top losers Oil and Gas lost 0.96 per cent, Energy fell 0.74 per cent and FMCG Sector dipped 0.61 percent. In top gainers, Auto climbed around 0.38 per cent, Power rose around 0.32 per cent, and Capital Goods Sector added 0.29 per cent.
