Rotary Club of Agartala and NER II Transmission Limited successfully organized a blood donation camp in Kumarghat, collecting 36 units of blood with strong community participation, medical support from Unokothi District Hospital, and a commitment to future humanitarian initiatives.
A major blood donation camp organized on Saturday by the Rotary Club of Agartala, in collaboration with NER II Transmission Limited, emerged as a significant humanitarian success, reinforcing the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives across Tripura and the Northeast region.
The camp was held at P K Bari, Kumarghat, located approximately 160 kilometers from Agartala, and received an enthusiastic response from employees, security personnel, and local residents. A total of 36 units of blood were successfully collected during the one-day camp, highlighting strong community participation and awareness about social responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, Rtn. Kisalaya Ghosh, President of the Rotary Club of Agartala, expressed satisfaction over the overwhelming response. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Uttam Nath, Regional In-Charge, Pappu Kumar Patel, Senior Manager, and all staff members of NER II Transmission Limited for their seamless coordination and unwavering support in making the event successful.
“This level of participation reflects growing awareness about the critical need for safe blood. We are extremely thankful to the management, staff, and donors who came forward voluntarily,” said Rtn. Kisalaya Ghosh.
The blood donation camp was also attended by Prof. Dr. Priyanath Das, Secretary of the Rotary Club of Agartala, who emphasized the life-saving value of regular blood donation. He highlighted that one unit of donated blood has the potential to save multiple lives when processed into components.
“Blood donation is one of the noblest services to humanity. The Rotary Club of Agartala remains committed to organizing more such camps in remote and semi-urban areas to ensure availability of blood during medical emergencies,” Prof. Dr. Das stated.
Medical support for the camp was provided by Dr. Souvik Dey, Medical Officer, along with his dedicated team from Unokothi District Hospital. Their professional expertise, careful screening process, and efficient handling of donors ensured the camp was conducted smoothly while maintaining the highest medical and safety standards.
Rotary Club members also took the opportunity to educate participants on the health benefits of blood donation and dispel common myths associated with the process. Donors were guided through pre-donation counseling, health checks, and post-donation care, ensuring a comfortable and safe experience.

Local residents praised the initiative, stating that such camps play a crucial role in strengthening healthcare access in regions located far from major urban centers. The collaboration between a reputed service organization like Rotary and a key infrastructure company such as NER II Transmission Limited was widely appreciated.
