Railway operations are poised to alleviate the acute fuel crisis gripping Assam and Tripura, following a communication disruption triggered by a landslide in Assam’s Dima Hasao district. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha announced the successful passage of a Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants (POL) rake through the landslide-affected site, destined for Dharmanagar, Tripura, by Saturday night.
Dr. Saha extended gratitude to Minister for Railways Aswini Vaishnav for prioritizing restoration efforts, alongside commendations for North Frontier Railway (NFR) officials and workers. The inaugural rake, comprising 49 coach tank wagons ferrying High-Speed Diesel (HSD) and Motor Spirit (MS), navigated the challenging Jatinga Lumpur area, marking a significant milestone in restoring rail connectivity.
Confirming the freight train’s progress, a railway official affirmed its successful passage through the critical Dima Hasao district section. Anticipation mounts as the Tripura Department of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs anticipates the train’s arrival at the Dharmanagar depot tonight, signaling impending relief for the region’s energy crisis.
Minister for Transport and Tourism, Sushanta Choudhury, urged consumer patience, assuring imminent relief as the POL rake nears its destination. He extended gratitude to all authorities involved for their collaborative efforts in addressing the unprecedented challenge.
