Tripura state secretary of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Jitendra Choudhury, visited Raiabari in Killa under Udaipur subdivision on Friday to address a concerning issue of alleged forced eviction and violence against minority families. The incident revolves around claims that these families were forcibly removed from their homes to make way for land acquisition.
Choudhury did not mince his words as he held MLA Rampada Jamatia, affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), responsible for the reported violence. During his visit, the CPI-M leader interacted with the distressed families, highlighting the government’s failure in ensuring the principles of ‘Sabka Satha Sabka Vikas’ (Together with All, Development for All). According to Choudhury, minorities across the state, including Raiabari, have been under constant attack.
The CPI-M MLA alleged that Raiabari’s minority families were subjected to three separate attacks, resulting in torture and rendering them homeless as their houses were purportedly set ablaze in the name of capturing their land. Choudhury emphasized that these minority families had been residing in the area for generations and were victims not only of recent attacks but also of past incidents involving terror outfits in Tripura.
Pointing fingers directly at MLA Rampada Jamatia and BJP leader Patal Kanya Jamatia, Choudhury claimed that these individuals instigated the attacks to forcibly seize the land belonging to innocent and helpless minority families. The CPI-M leader urged the distressed minority families to unite and protest against the alleged violence, promising the party’s unwavering support in their fight for justice.
Choudhury said that the CPI-M would stand by the minority families to ensure their rights are protected, calling for unity and collective action against what he termed as an egregious incident of attack and forced eviction. The situation in Raiabari raises serious concerns about the safety and security of minority communities, prompting calls for a thorough investigation into the alleged acts of violence and eviction.
