PM Modi to inaugurate Samrat Samprati Museum and launch ₹20,000 crore projects in Gandhinagar, boosting heritage preservation, semiconductor growth, infrastructure expansion, and India’s self-reliance vision across multiple sectors.

PM Narendra Modi is set to embark on a significant visit to Gujarat on March 31, where he will inaugurate the Samrat Samprati Museum and unveil a series of major development projects spanning infrastructure, technology, culture, and public welfare. The visit coincides with the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti, adding cultural significance to the day’s events.

Cultural Milestone: Samrat Samprati Museum Inauguration

The Prime Minister will begin his visit at around 10:00 a.m. by inaugurating the Samrat Samprati Museum at Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar. Situated within the Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra campus, the museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the legacy of Jainism and India’s ancient civilisational traditions.

Named after Samrat Samprati, the museum honors a key figure in Jain history, known for his efforts in spreading Jain philosophy across India. In a statement ahead of the visit, Modi described the museum as “a testament to the rich legacy of Jainism and India’s civilisational traditions.”

The museum houses more than 2,000 rare artefacts, including intricately designed stone and metal idols, ancient manuscripts, coins, silver chariots, miniature paintings, and sacred Tirth Patta and Yantra Patta. Spread across seven distinct wings, each section presents a chronological narrative of Jainism’s evolution and its contributions to humanity.

Modern digital installations and audio-visual experiences have been integrated into the museum to offer an immersive learning environment for scholars, researchers, and visitors alike. The Prime Minister emphasized that the museum not only preserves heritage but also highlights the enduring influence of Jain culture on Indian society.

Boost to Semiconductor Sector: Kaynes Semicon Plant

At approximately 12:45 p.m., Modi will inaugurate the Kaynes Semicon Plant at Sanand GIDC in Ahmedabad, marking a major step in India’s semiconductor ambitions. The facility is expected to begin commercial production of advanced Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs), crucial for automotive and industrial applications.

Each module will contain 17 chips and will be supplied to Alpha and Omega Semiconductor, a California-based firm. The plant represents India’s second semiconductor unit to begin commercial production under the India Semiconductor Mission, following Micron Technology.

Once fully operational, the plant will have the capacity to produce up to 6.33 million units daily, significantly strengthening India’s domestic semiconductor packaging capabilities. It also marks the entry of an Indian-origin Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company into semiconductor manufacturing, reinforcing the country’s push toward technological self-reliance.

Massive Infrastructure Push Worth ₹20,000 Crore

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Vav-Tharad, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects collectively valued at over ₹20,000 crore. These initiatives span diverse sectors, including power, railways, roads and highways, healthcare, urban development, tribal welfare, and rural infrastructure.

Road and Highway Projects

Among the key highlights is the inauguration of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, an access-controlled highway built at a cost exceeding ₹5,100 crore. The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity and support industrial growth in the Dholera Special Investment Region.

Additionally, the foundation stone will be laid for the four-lane Idar-Badoli bypass, while the Dholavira-Mauvana-Vav-Santalpur NH-754K section will be upgraded to a two-lane paved shoulder carriageway. Flyovers at Bhaijipura Junction and PDPU Junction will also be inaugurated, aiming to ease congestion on routes handling more than 140,000 vehicles daily.

Power and Renewable Energy Projects

In the power sector, Modi will inaugurate the Khavda Pooling Station-2 and its associated transmission systems, developed with an investment of approximately ₹3,650 crore. The project will enable the evacuation of 4.5 GW of renewable energy, contributing to India’s clean energy goals.

Railway Connectivity Enhancements

Key railway projects include the Kanalus–Jamnagar doubling project and the Gandhidham–Adipur quadrupling initiative. The Himmatnagar–Khedbrahma gauge conversion will enhance regional connectivity, while a new train service connecting Khedbrahma, Himmatnagar, and Asarwa will be flagged off.

Urban Development and Healthcare

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate 44 urban development projects worth ₹5,300 crore. In the healthcare sector, new 858-bed Rain Basera facilities at Civil Hospitals in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will be launched. A Government Boys Hostel in Vejalpur will provide improved accommodation for tribal students.

Tourism and Water Infrastructure

Tourism initiatives include a Light and Sound Show at Rani ki Vav and a Water Screen Projection Show at Sharmishtha Lake. Development projects will also begin at Balaram Mahadev and Vishweshwar Mahadev in Banaskantha to boost religious tourism.

Water supply schemes such as the Kasara–Dantiwada and Dindrol–Mukteshwar pipelines will benefit around 1.5 lakh people, while expansion work on the Sabarmati Riverfront will further enhance urban infrastructure.

A Vision for Growth and Heritage

The March 31 visit underscores the government’s dual focus on preserving India’s cultural heritage while accelerating modern infrastructure and technological growth. From a museum celebrating ancient traditions to a semiconductor facility shaping the future, the projects reflect a comprehensive development strategy aimed at strengthening India’s global standing.
