Matters relating to the recent violence in Panisagar following the attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh were raised in the Parliament.

As the elders raised the issue Union Minister of State (MoS) Home Nityanand Rai admitted that there had been some stray incidents. However, he did not identify any specific groups on the floor spreading rumours and hate speeches against the minorities.

Rai in a written statement said that there had indeed been some sporadic incidents of damage to property during the violence.

He also informed the elders that a total of 15 cases had been registered relating to those incidents in the state during the last few weeks to prevent such incidents. Six cases have been registered in respect of the malicious posts in social media spreading rumour, communal hatred.

The Tripura government had also deployed police forces across the areas affected.

All religious places had been provided security coverage and mobile, fixed pickets during night and regular patrolling being continued.
