The Tripura State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the Panchayat elections, set to take place on August 8. The counting of votes will be held on August 12.

The State Election Commissioner Saradindu Chaudhuri making the announcement, said the official notification will be issued on Thursday.

According to the State Election Commission, the last date for the submission of nominations is July 18, with the scrutiny of the nominations scheduled for July 19. Candidates will have until July 22 to withdraw their candidatures. The entire election process is expected to be completed by August 17. With the announcement of the Panchayat polls, the model code of conduct has come into force. The elections will be conducted in 2,650 polling stations across the state. For voter identification, the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India will be followed. Notably, ballot papers will be used for voting, with different colors designated for various levels of the Panchayat elections: White for Gram Panchayats, Pink for Panchayat Samities, and Green for Zilla Parishads.

As per the final electoral rolls, there are 12,94,153 registered electors in Tripura, including 6,58,445 males, 6,35,697 females, and 11 others.

Under the jurisdiction of 606 Gram Panchayats, there are 3,517 constituencies and 6,370 seats. In addition, there are 35 Panchayat Samities, comprising 423 constituencies and seats, and 8 Zilla Parishads, which have 116 constituencies and an equal number of seats.

. Security for a free, fair, and peaceful election would be ensured with all concerned departments and agencies taking proactive role.
