Painting and Sculpture Workshop cum Exhibition organized as a part of 50 years celebration of Tripura Statehood and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav was inaugurated by Director of Information & Cultural Affairs department Ratan Biswas yesterday on the 6th day of 40th Agartala Book Fair at Hapania International Fair campus.
Total 75 artistes from different areas of the state have participated, among which 50 of them were painters and 25 were sculpture artistes. Director of ICA department welcomed the participants at the event. He said, this workshop has brought both veteran and new artistes together which has increased the beauty of the Fair besides increasing artistic craftmanship.
Painters Hare Krishna Pal and Mitali Gangopadhyay also spoke on the occasion. Well-known artistes Suman Bhattacharjee and Dilip De were present at the event. The Workshop will continue till April 2 and the Exhibition will continue till April 5 .
On 5th day of the Book Fair, books worth total Rs 3.59 829 Lakh were sold. Four new books were published on the open stage on the same day. Besides that, ‘Role of tribal women’ book cover on behalf of Holy Cross College was unveiled by Miss Bina Tom. Total 12 participants participated in recitation. ‘Media Ethics and Challenges’ was discussed on the stage.
The cultural stage yesterday was named after Late Singer Pankaj Mitra. Artistes from Dhalai district and well-known artistes of the state performed at the cultural event.
