BJP’s president J P Nadda on Thursday added impetus to the party’s election campaign as he joined the concluding event of the Rath Yatra in Agartala.
He was accompanied by Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, MP Biplab Kumar Deb, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee and other senior leaders.
The BJP chief minced no words to criticise the CPM and Congress in his speech and alleged that they ran incompetent governments wherever they were in power. He drew comparison of the CPM and Congress governments in the state as well as in the centre with the BJP governments to drive his point that it is during BJP governments that development activities went in full swing.
As Nadda called upon people to vote for the BJP once again in the next assembly elections, he also asked the Opposition leaders to take rest and allow the BJP to continue with its development activities.
Nadda also spoke in details about the growth and developments that the state witnessed during the last five years under the BJP government. He said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took special interest for Tripura and that helped the state in attaining remarkable growth.
“In 2018, Tripura had only one national highway but now the state has seven national highways”, he said and added that while earlier people had to go outside the state for availing healthcare now with seven well equipped healthcare facilities crucial and complex treatment could be done here only.
Besides, as it was the case of the entire country, state’s communication networks had also improved during the past five years.
“As the plan goes Tripura will soon be connected with Bangladesh too”, he added.
The colourful BJP rally organised to conclude the state wide ‘Rath Yatra’ drew huge gathering. BJP sources claimed they sought to restrict the gathering of the party activists from adjoining areas only to avoid crowding in the city at this time.
The Rath Yatra had earlier been flagged off by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on January 5 in Dharmanagar and Sabrum. After covering about 1,000 kms and touching all the 60 Assembly constituencies, the Yatra concluded in Agartala on Thursday.
