Minister Sudhangshu Das chaired a district-level review meeting in Dhalai, evaluating progress of welfare schemes under ARD, Fisheries, and ST Welfare Departments. The meeting stressed timely delivery of benefits, faster project implementation, and coordinated administrative efforts for the 2025–26 financial year.
A significant district-level review meeting was held on Monday at the conference hall of the District Magistrate’s office in Dhalai, bringing together senior officials and departmental heads to assess the progress and effectiveness of welfare schemes being implemented across the district. The meeting was chaired by Minister Sudhangshu Das, who holds charge of several key portfolios in the state government.
The session saw participation from the Animal Resource Development (ARD) Department, Fisheries Department, and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department, along with all responsible officers of the district administration. The comprehensive review was aimed at evaluating whether the beneficiaries under these departments are receiving government facilities and support within the stipulated timeline for the 2025–26 financial year.
In his opening remarks, Minister Sudhangshu Das underscored the importance of ensuring that government initiatives reach the intended population without procedural delays or administrative hurdles. He stated that timely delivery of benefits remains essential for improving living standards and maintaining public trust in welfare-oriented governance. The minister reiterated that each department must make beneficiary-oriented service delivery a top priority in the ongoing financial year.
A major portion of the meeting was dedicated to department-wise presentations, where officials highlighted current achievements, ongoing projects, and challenges faced in the implementation pipeline. Progress reports from the ARD Department detailed activities related to livestock development, veterinary services, poultry support schemes, and overall animal husbandry initiatives. Officials emphasized their efforts to expand livestock productivity and strengthen veterinary outreach services at the grassroots level. Minister Das directed the department to ensure that all subsidies, livestock inputs, and medical facilities intended for rural communities are disbursed promptly.
The Fisheries Department presented updates on various fish production enhancement programs, pond development initiatives, and beneficiary-linked schemes aimed at boosting sustainable inland fisheries. Officials informed the minister that several new beneficiaries have been identified under financial assistance programs for the current fiscal year. Minister Das advised the department to further fast-track the approval and release of benefits so that fish farmers can make timely investments ahead of seasonal fish farming cycles.
The Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department also provided an extensive overview of its initiative-based approach to uplifting tribal communities in Dhalai, which is one of the state’s most demographically significant tribal-dominated districts. The department reported on educational support schemes, livelihood enhancement programs, housing assistance, and various income-generation initiatives aimed at empowering tribal families. Minister Das emphasized that welfare schemes for Scheduled Tribes must be implemented with precision, transparency, and utmost priority, given the district’s unique socio-economic profile.
Throughout the meeting, Minister Das repeatedly highlighted the need for improved inter-departmental coordination. He stated that isolated departmental functioning often leads to delays, duplication of work, or lack of monitoring, all of which affect beneficiaries directly. The minister urged officers to adopt a collaborative approach by sharing data, aligning timelines, and jointly inspecting field-level progress to ensure seamless service delivery.
Officials also discussed ongoing infrastructural and developmental projects being undertaken in the district. Several critical issues were identified, including bottlenecks in project execution, shortage of manpower in certain areas, and the need for additional technical support for field operations. Minister Das instructed officers to overcome these challenges by adopting innovative practices, strengthening local governance mechanisms, and utilizing available resources optimally.
He further stressed the necessity of regular monitoring and timely reporting. According to him, strict monitoring ensures accountability while enabling the administration to track whether schemes are reaching the intended households in time. He reminded officers that the success of government programs ultimately depends on their efficiency and commitment at the grassroots level.
The minister concluded the meeting by calling upon all departments to accelerate implementation processes and deliver visible results within the next review cycle. He affirmed that the state government remains committed to driving development, improving service delivery, and ensuring that welfare benefits reach every eligible citizen of Dhalai district.
