Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha calls accountability the foundation of democracy, stressing transparency, integrity, corruption-free governance, and digital engagement at a landmark Agartala seminar focused on strengthening people-centric democratic institutions and public representatives’ responsibility.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that protecting the dignity of the people, maintaining personal integrity, standing beside citizens in times of need, and ensuring full accountability in public service define the true identity of a public representative.

He described accountability as the foundation of democracy.

Addressing a seminar on the responsibility and accountability of public representatives towards the people in Agartala, the Chief Minister termed the initiative a historic milestone aimed at making democracy more transparent, strong, and people-centric.

He said earning the trust of the people and honouring that trust is the highest commitment of any public representative, and that democracy flourishes when built on the foundations of ethics, transparency, and accountability.

He noted that India is the world’s largest democracy and said the country’s prestige has significantly increased on the global stage under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that safeguarding and strengthening this honour is the responsibility of every public representative.
