The INDIA bloc has decided to write to the Chief Justice of India over concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and alleged electoral roll manipulation. Opposition leaders also agreed to hold alliance meetings every two months while intensifying campaigns on unemployment, inflation, NEET paper leaks, and economic issues.

The Opposition alliance INDIA bloc on Tuesday unveiled a series of strategic decisions aimed at strengthening its political campaign against the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls emerging as a central issue during a high-level meeting of alliance partners.

The meeting, attended by several prominent Opposition leaders, concluded with a broader consensus on reshaping both electoral and political strategies while presenting a united front on issues ranging from unemployment and inflation to examination paper leaks and the country’s economic condition.

One of the most significant decisions taken during the meeting was the alliance’s resolution to write a letter to the Chief Justice of India (CJI) expressing serious concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Leaders alleged that there are apprehensions regarding possible manipulation of electoral rolls and raised questions about the fairness and transparency of the electoral process.

According to alliance leaders, all participating parties unanimously agreed to submit a protest letter to the Chief Justice in the coming days, seeking attention to what they described as serious democratic concerns. The move signals the Opposition’s intention to take the issue beyond political forums and seek institutional intervention.

Another major point of discussion was the controversy surrounding recent examination paper leaks, particularly the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). Several leaders expressed deep concern over the alleged mismanagement of the education system and criticized the Union Education Ministry for failing to ensure a fair examination process.

The alliance leaders argued that lakhs of students appearing for competitive examinations such as NEET and various board examinations have faced uncertainty and distress due to repeated irregularities. They called for greater accountability and intensified their demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that students’ interests have been compromised under the current administration.

Economic issues also featured prominently during the discussions. The INDIA bloc expressed concern over what it described as a worsening economic environment marked by rising unemployment, inflationary pressures, and challenges faced by farmers across the country. The alliance demanded that the Central government immediately convene an all-party meeting to discuss these pressing concerns and formulate solutions through wider political consultation.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, while addressing the gathering, criticized the NDA government’s handling of the economy and foreign policy. He alleged that policy failures have contributed to growing economic uncertainty and have adversely impacted ordinary citizens.

The meeting also focused on strengthening coordination among alliance partners following recent electoral setbacks in several Assembly elections. Recognizing the need for sustained collaboration, the INDIA bloc decided that all alliance parties would meet once every two months to review political developments and coordinate future strategies.

As part of this decision, the next INDIA bloc meeting has been scheduled to take place in Hyderabad in August. The regular meetings are expected to help alliance partners maintain closer coordination ahead of upcoming political battles and elections.

In addition, the alliance agreed to establish a daily coordination mechanism during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. Leaders decided that a meeting would be held every morning at the office of Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, where members of the bloc will discuss parliamentary strategy and formulate a united response to government policies and legislative proposals.

The meeting witnessed the participation of several senior Opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, and NCP-SP leader Supriya Sule.

However, not all Opposition parties were present. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) stayed away from the meeting amid reported differences with the Congress party on various political issues.

Despite these absences, alliance leaders projected confidence and emphasized their commitment to presenting a united and spirited challenge to the NDA government on issues affecting citizens, democratic institutions, and the country’s economic future.
