Assam records a historic mandate as Himanta Biswa Sarma credits BJP-led NDA victory to development, governance, and identity protection. Narendra Modi’s leadership and Northeast growth initiatives play a key role in securing a third consecutive term.
A strong electoral verdict has reshaped the political landscape in Assam, as the ruling alliance secured a decisive win, reinforcing its hold on power for a third consecutive term. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the outcome as a “historic mandate,” emphasizing that the result reflects public confidence in governance, development, and identity protection.
Addressing the media after the sweeping victory, Sarma said the electorate has once again endorsed the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the broader vision of the National Democratic Alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party. He noted that the mandate goes beyond electoral success, symbolizing trust in policies aimed at long-term growth and stability.
Sarma highlighted that sustained efforts in infrastructure expansion, administrative reforms, and socio-economic development have played a central role in winning public support. According to him, the government’s initiatives have reached diverse communities across the state, contributing to inclusive progress and improved living standards.
“The people have clearly chosen development, good governance, and the protection of Assam’s identity,” he said, expressing gratitude to voters for their overwhelming support. He added that the alliance’s performance demonstrates a deeper connection with the electorate, particularly among young voters who are increasingly focused on employment opportunities and economic advancement.
The Chief Minister also credited the central government’s role in integrating the Northeast more closely with national growth strategies. He pointed out that enhanced connectivity, investment inflows, and policy attention have significantly boosted the region’s development prospects.

Notably, the BJP secured a clear majority on its own, signaling an expansion of its support base and a consolidation of its political position in the state. Political observers view this as a sign of shifting voter dynamics and growing acceptance of the party’s governance model.
With a renewed mandate, the government is expected to intensify its focus on development projects while continuing to address regional aspirations and identity concerns that remain central to Assam’s political discourse.
