In response to growing concerns from the families of dialysis patients at GB Hospital, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte held a press conference on Monday to address the ongoing issues. The complaints were sparked by the hospital’s decision to outsource its dialysis services, with many alleging that the arrangement was inadequate for the 80 to 100 patients relying on the treatment each day.

Speaking at the press event, Gitte assured the public that immediate steps are being taken to resolve these issues. He acknowledged that while the dialysis services are currently outsourced, the measure is only temporary. He emphasized that the government is actively working toward the approval and establishment of a fully functional public dialysis unit.

“The approval process is already underway, and we are expediting efforts to ensure better service for all patients,” said Gitte. To ease the current strain on GB Hospital, he mentioned that alternative arrangements are being coordinated through nearby government medical colleges.

The press conference, held following Chief Minister’s intervention, also saw the presence of Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, the Medical Superintendent of GB Hospital, along with senior officials and medical professionals overseeing dialysis operations. Gitte further assured that a committee has been established to investigate patient complaints and ensure that the services meet required standards.

The Health Secretary urged patients and their families to report any further service lapses, promising that the health department remains dedicated to delivering uninterrupted and quality care for all dialysis patients.
