CM Manik Saha launches two major rural schemes in Tripura, honours top-performing blocks and districts, and emphasizes strong monitoring for last-mile governance. The new initiatives aim to boost connectivity, livelihoods, and sustainable rural development across the state.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday highlighted the crucial importance of robust monitoring and timely review of government initiatives to ensure that development reaches every household in rural Tripura. He emphasized that regular assessment and transparent execution are essential components of “vibrant and responsive governance,” particularly for people residing in remote and hilly regions of the state.
Dr. Saha was speaking at a special programme organised by the Rural Development (RD) Department at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, where he officially launched two major rural schemes—Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana and Mukhyamantri Tripura Gram Samriddhi Yojana 2.0. Both initiatives are aimed at accelerating rural connectivity, economic empowerment, infrastructure improvement, and livelihood opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that he personally conducts review meetings with government officers once every fortnight to ensure that all developmental works are carried out efficiently and within deadlines. “Proper monitoring of each initiative is vital. Only then can we achieve the target of delivering governance up to the last mile,” he said.
As part of the event, Dr. Saha also joined a Griha Pravesh ceremony through the programme, symbolically marking the allocation of new housing units to beneficiaries under various government schemes. Additionally, he released an achievement leaflet documenting the progress and milestones of rural development projects implemented across Tripura.
One of the key highlights of the event was the felicitation of high-performing administrative units. Awards were presented to the best-performing RD blocks and districts, recognizing their outstanding work in implementing government schemes, strengthening rural infrastructure, and ensuring efficient service delivery.

In his speech, the Chief Minister reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of rural Tripura. He said that improving the “social dignity, economic stability, and quality of life” of people living in villages remains a top priority for his administration. “Development cannot be restricted to urban centres. Villages are the foundation of our state’s progress,” he remarked.
Dr. Saha also noted that the initiatives launched are aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has consistently emphasized rural transformation, enhanced connectivity, and inclusive development. “Our government is working tirelessly to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes and good governance reach every individual, especially those in remote and underserved areas,” he said.
The programme was attended by several senior officials and dignitaries, including Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Rural Development Secretary Abhishek Singh, and Director of Panchayats Prasun De. Block Development Officers (BDOs), District Magistrates, and officials from various wings of the Rural Development Department also joined the event.
Officials noted that the newly launched schemes will help bridge infrastructure gaps, improve last-mile service delivery, and boost socio-economic outcomes across the state. The government hopes that the Mukhyamantri Gram Sampark Yojana will strengthen rural road connectivity, while the Gram Samriddhi Yojana 2.0 will play a pivotal role in expanding livelihood opportunities and enhancing village-level infrastructure.
