Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reaffirms the state’s commitment to transparent, merit-based recruitment while distributing appointment letters to new teachers. He highlights major educational reforms, job creation, and the government’s focus on quality education and institutional development across the state.

Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday reaffirmed the Tripura government’s resolve to ensure a fully transparent, corruption-free, and merit-driven recruitment system while prioritizing the development of the state’s education and health sectors. He made the statement while inaugurating the appointment letter distribution ceremony for newly recruited Physical Education Teachers and Special Educators at the Muktadhara Auditorium in Agartala.

Addressing the newly appointed recruits and other attendees, the Chief Minister emphasized that transparency in government employment has been a foundational principle of the present administration. “From the very beginning, we have ensured that recruitment into government service is based solely on merit. No one today can claim that political influence or affiliation is required to secure a government job. If one has the proper qualifications, one can certainly obtain a job,” Dr. Saha asserted.

Employment Boost Across Departments

Highlighting the government’s efforts to expand job opportunities, Dr. Saha revealed that 20,181 individuals have been employed across various departments since the current government came to power. This includes appointments made under the die-in-harness scheme.

Among these, the Education Department alone has recruited 6,998 candidates, covering positions for Post Graduate Teachers (PGT), Graduate Teachers (GT), and Under Graduate Teachers (UGT). The Chief Minister said this reflects the government’s strong commitment to strengthening the human resource base across educational institutions to improve teaching quality and learning outcomes.

Focus on Quality Education

Dr. Saha reiterated that enhancing the quality of education remains one of the state government’s top priorities. “Our goal is to create a learning environment that is supportive, modern, and student-friendly. I can see from the appearance and confidence of those who received appointment letters today that they are deserving candidates who will contribute positively to our education system,” he added.

He also stressed that the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP)—introduced under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—is helping revive traditional Indian educational values while simultaneously empowering the modern academic ecosystem.

Key Educational Reforms and Initiatives

The Chief Minister underlined several flagship initiatives introduced to strengthen the education sector in Tripura. These include:

  • Nipun Tripura, focused on improving foundational literacy and numeracy

  • CM Saath, aimed at enhancing academic mentoring

  • Mission Mukul, supporting early-grade learning

  • Saharsha, promoting joyful and inclusive learning environments

Additionally, 125 schools have been upgraded as Vidya Jyoti institutions, and 84 schools have been developed as PM-Shri Schools, ensuring advanced facilities and improved infrastructure for students.

The government has also launched the CM Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana, an initiative dedicated to empowering girl students by providing them with financial support and skill-building opportunities.

Dr. Saha further stated that over 5,000 individuals have been appointed through contractual and outsourcing processes across multiple departments.

Significant Growth in Higher Education

The Chief Minister highlighted the rapid expansion of Tripura’s higher education system. The state now boasts:

  • Three MBBS colleges

  • Dedicated Nursing, ANM, and GNM colleges

  • Colleges specializing in Agriculture, Fishery, and Veterinary sciences

  • Prestigious institutions including IIIT, National Law University, National Forensic Science University, NIT, and multiple private universities

Under the Target Project, 10 aspirants have already received state assistance to prepare for competitive national-level examinations.
