Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury launches road construction in Sachindranagar’s Nayanbari agricultural belt, boosting rural connectivity, easing farmers’ transport challenges, and accelerating development through improved infrastructure linking villages to markets and essential services.

In a move aimed at strengthening rural infrastructure and supporting farmers’ livelihoods, Tripura’s Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday officially launched a road construction project in the Nayanbari area of Sachindranagar, a region known for its extensive agricultural activities.

The minister announced the start of the paved road project while addressing local residents and officials during a brief programme in the village. The initiative follows a previous visit by the minister on January 21, 2026, when villagers submitted a memorandum outlining their urgent development needs, particularly improved road connectivity for transporting agricultural produce.

According to local residents, poor road conditions had long posed challenges for farmers and commuters, especially during the monsoon season. Vehicles transporting crops to nearby markets often struggled to pass through muddy and damaged stretches, resulting in delays and financial losses for the farming community.

Responding promptly to the villagers’ demands, Chowdhury had instructed officials from the concerned departments present during his earlier visit to take immediate steps to address the issue. Acting on those directions, authorities finalized the project plan and initiated construction work this week.

Speaking at the site, the minister emphasized the importance of rural infrastructure in strengthening agricultural economies. He said that improved roads not only facilitate easier transportation of crops but also provide better access to healthcare, education, and essential services.

This road will significantly improve connectivity for the people of this area. Farmers will benefit greatly as they will be able to transport their produce to markets more quickly and efficiently,” Chowdhury said. He further assured villagers that the construction work would be completed within the next few days.

Residents of the Nayanbari area welcomed the project, describing it as a long-awaited development initiative that would ease travel difficulties and enhance economic opportunities for the agricultural community.

Local leaders said the new road is expected to transform daily life in the region by linking farmers more effectively to nearby marketplaces and service centers. With the project now underway, villagers expressed optimism that improved infrastructure would bring lasting benefits to Sachindranagar’s rural economy and overall development.
