In an attempt to make the state more pollution free and cabinet approved the Tripura Electric Vehicle Policy 2022’. The new policy envisages a five-years ambitious plan to convert 10 per cent of the vehicles in the state into electric vehicles.
At present there are about 60,000 vehicles in the state , of them two wheelers are 42,000, three-wheelers 10,000, four-wheelers 7,500 and buses 500, said ICA minister Sushanta Chowdhury after the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
“While the new policy will ensure electric-based mobility of vehicles, the policy will help reduce air pollution and it will be helpful for building an eco-friendly tourist destination,” Chowdhury told the reporters. The policy was already made effective in 14 states including Meghalaya and Assam of north-eastern region.
He also said, the cabinet approved recruitment in six posts of Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVIs) under the Transport department. The six posts would soon be filled up through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC).
“Total 19 posts of MVIs are there. Among them, 13 were physically occupied while six posts were abolished. The cabinet approved creation and filling up of the six posts. The recruitment will be done through TPSC,” he said.
Apart from that the state cabinet also decided to provide 2/3 ganda lands free of cost to the tea workers’ families under the Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Kalyan Prakalpa.
Chowdhury said, under the scheme the land would be provided to about 7230 tea workers’ families..
Besides, the cabinet also resolved to purchase 20,000 MT paddy from the farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs. 19.40 per kg this Kharif season.
He said, the paddy procurement drive would commence in 32 temporary centres across the state from the first week of June. The expenditure for purchasing 20,000 MT paddy this Kharis season would cost Rs. 45 crore, Chowdhury said.
“After the formation of the new government, 1 lakh 4 thousand and 208.27 MT paddy was purchased at an expenditure of Rs. 192.52 crore,” Chowdhury told the reporters.
