Biplab Deb welcomes Union Budget 2026–27, calling it growth-driven and inclusive. He says the budget strengthens youth empowerment, agriculture, MSMEs, Northeast development, infrastructure, entrepreneurship, and social equity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Lok Sabha MP from West Tripura and former Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Sunday strongly welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, stating that it reflects the government’s long-term vision of building a developed and self-reliant India while ensuring social equity and inclusive economic growth.
In a statement issued after the presentation of the budget by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Deb said the financial roadmap under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi focuses on empowering youth, safeguarding farmers, strengthening entrepreneurship, and offering meaningful relief to the middle class. He described the budget as a balanced policy document that recognises the role of India’s working population while creating opportunities across sectors.
According to Deb, the budget lays special emphasis on innovation, manufacturing, and employment generation, which are crucial for sustaining economic momentum in the coming years. He said targeted initiatives in agriculture, rural development, infrastructure expansion, tourism promotion, and cultural heritage preservation would help ensure that economic progress remains inclusive and regionally balanced.
The BJP leader highlighted that the agriculture sector received particular attention through measures aimed at improving farm productivity, income stability, and rural livelihoods. He said these steps would strengthen food security while providing long-term safeguards for farmers, especially in rural and semi-urban regions.
Deb also pointed out that the Union Budget proposes incentives for startups, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and domestic manufacturing, which would further reinforce the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He noted that access to credit, ease of doing business, and policy support for indigenous production would encourage entrepreneurship and job creation across India.
Emphasising regional development, Deb said the northeastern states received special focus in the budget, particularly in sectors such as connectivity, infrastructure development, renewable energy, tourism, skill development, and border area empowerment. He stated that enhanced investment in these areas would accelerate economic integration of the Northeast with the national growth framework and strengthen India’s Act East policy.
According to Deb, improved road, rail, and digital connectivity would unlock the region’s economic potential while creating employment opportunities for local youth. He added that initiatives supporting tourism and cultural heritage would help showcase the Northeast’s rich traditions while generating sustainable income.
The former Tripura chief minister further said the budget demonstrated a clear commitment to social justice and inclusive growth by addressing the needs of the middle class, salaried employees, and vulnerable sections of society. He noted that fiscal measures aimed at easing financial pressure on households would improve overall economic confidence.
