Education minister Ratanlal Nath  said, a total of  38,760 students of 898 schools in Tripura will take part in the National Achievement Survey on November 12 next. The Ministry of Education will conduct the survey in collaboration with NCERT. “The survey will cover students of Class III, V, VIII and X. The CBSE has identified the schools where the survey will be conducted for assessing the students’ learning stage. Based on the survey report, the Education department will take necessary steps to eliminate the weakness, if any,” the Education minister told the media on Saturday.

While CBSE will look after the survey, the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been assigned for conducting the survey in Tripura.

The National Achievement Survey will cover 1,24,000 schools across 733 districts of the country.

According to Nath, some steps have already been taken by the SCERT for smooth conduct of the survey.

The District Education Officers of all districts have been assigned as District Nodal Officers. Besides, around 1,797 field investigators and 1,087 observers have been assigned for the survey, he said.

The Director of SCERT will function as the State Nodal Officer. The two additional and joint directors each will oversee the survey process in all districts. The examination will start at 10 am.

As part of preparations, he said, two mock tests have already been conducted in the state so that the students don’t face any problem during the survey.

Briefing the media, Nath said that a baseline survey was conducted by the state government in 2019 according to which only 43 percent students were found to be fit (in terms of learning) in their respective classes. Based on the results, the state government had introduced a new scheme ‘Notun Disha’. The new project gave fruitful results but it was disrupted following the Covid pandemic, Nath added.

The Education minister sought cooperation from the teachers and guardians for smooth conduct of the survey. He said, at the present situation, the National Achievement Survey is important for assessing the learning outcome of the students.
