MLA Sushanta Deb presents Bishalgarh’s three-year development report card, highlighting major infrastructure growth, healthcare expansion, employment projects, urban upgrades, youth engagement programs, and disaster relief initiatives under Chief Minister Manik Saha’s leadership.
In a first-of-its-kind public accountability initiative, MLA Sushanta Deb unveiled a comprehensive three-year development report card for Bishalgarh, outlining significant progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, urban development, and cultural engagement. The event, held at Jangaliya Ground, drew the presence of local leaders, civic representatives, and residents eager to review the transformation of the constituency since 2023.
Addressing the gathering, Deb emphasized that Bishalgarh has undergone a remarkable shift under the combined implementation of state and central welfare schemes. He credited the leadership and support of Manik Saha, along with coordinated efforts from local representatives, for accelerating development initiatives across the region.
Infrastructure and Connectivity Boost
Among the key highlights of the report card was the construction of modern roads connecting Bishalgarh to Golaghati, Boxanagar, and Lakshmibil, improving connectivity and trade mobility. Deb also announced the establishment of Asia’s second artificial sand manufacturing unit at Lakshmibil, a project expected to generate substantial employment opportunities and strengthen the local construction ecosystem.
Urban development works have included modern drainage systems, cement concrete roads, public sanitation facilities, and beautification of the motor stand. These projects aim to enhance both functionality and aesthetics within the municipal area.
Healthcare and Sports Development
In the healthcare sector, the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital has been expanded with a new 50-bed block to improve patient care and accessibility. Deb stated that strengthening public health infrastructure remains a priority for the constituency.
Additionally, work is underway on an indoor sports complex and a swimming pool to promote youth participation in athletics and community activities. A grand temple dedicated to Dakshineswari Maa is also under construction, reflecting efforts to preserve and promote cultural heritage.
Youth Engagement and Community Welfare
The report further detailed initiatives aimed at youth empowerment and social welfare, including sports tournaments, monthly blood donation camps, and Rabindra Jayanti celebrations organized in natural settings to foster cultural awareness.
Deb highlighted coordinated disaster relief measures during recent floods, noting that financial assistance was provided to affected traders with support from government agencies. These efforts, he said, demonstrate a commitment to responsive governance.
The event was attended by Bishalgarh Municipal Chairman Anjan Purkayastha, Panchayat Samiti Chairperson Atasi Das, and other local representatives.

Concluding his address, Deb reaffirmed his commitment to building a “new Bishalgarh” rooted in sustainable development, cultural pride, and community welfare. He assured residents that several more projects are scheduled for implementation over the next two years, signaling continued momentum in the constituency’s growth trajectory.
